The only positives for Cummings are that he was contrite, he didn't lose his temper and he answered all Qs. The optics of him against a large media pack will also help him with some.... But #DominicCummngs

The big negatives are that He didnt apologise, he admitted to bending the rules and took advantage of having more resources than the average UK citizen... But that press conference wasn't aimed at me...

It was aimed at Daily Mail readers, pensioners and Tory party voters because they are the only ones who will force the PM to sack him. Most of those will never have even heard of Cummings before this weekend, the big Q is how many of them are convinced by his account

Personally I think Cummings and the govt have completely underestimated public anger on this, particularly amongst pensioners. He'll claw back some of the damage but nowhere near all of it. The Daily Mail front page tomorrow will be the barometer.
