Loving @mariepoulin Notion Gardening Dashboard.

It's my first time seriously gardening.

Notetaking is critical to the trail & error.

Gardening is a space for creativity & prototyping. The learning cycle is fast & you must test your hypothesis.

Thread on my lesson's learned
Gardening is a microcosm to practice creativity & overcome my perfectionism. Countless ways to succeed & fail. You can watch youtube videos, but ultimately you just have to try things out.

Notetaking & reflection is how you shift your mindset from failure to learning.
Gardening is work, but if it sparks joy then it's the pleasure of the day. After each long zoom call, I reward myself with examining my plants, giving them what they need or just admiring them w/ loving words. If you don't talk to your plants, you aren't giving them enough love.
Things I learned the hard way
-reusing cans & plastic (cups & yogurt tubs) work great for seeds. Paper-based containers don't work well b/c you can't bottom water & spread mold.
-Containers that are narrow & 3-in deep are better than wide containers to use less seed starting soil
Although I saw so many cute Pinterest photos of seed starters in eggshells, those don't work well b/c they are too small to retain enough moisture
Pest control is the hardest part of gardening! Once you see stuff eating up your plants, it's hard to control it. You need to keep a diary of every form of bug and blight you see & the next season, start preventatively spraying before those same things show up again!
My favorite garden resource is The Rusted Garden youtube. Gary is super specific in his advice but focuses on the principles & the science behind the tips so you can learn what works for your garden rather than just follow his tips. https://www.youtube.com/user/pilarchik
