bioRxiv authors receive invitations to submit to/participate in various initiatives/journals/3rd party services. A reminder these are neither from nor endorsed by bioRxiv 1/n
We ourselves have surveyed authors in the past. The results were presented here https://doi.org/10.1101/833400 ">https://doi.org/10.1101/8... and we have not surveyed authors since then 2/n
Preprints (like journals) do of course include public contact information for corresponding authors. This means they can/will receive email feedback and solicitations they welcome and inevitably some they don’t. Opinions where the line between those categories lies will vary 3/n
The most obvious case being journal solicitations: “We loved your paper and are keen on publishing it, love Nature Editor” will generally be more tolerated than “Dear Friend, I am delighted to welcome expression of publish in [predatory journal unrelated to your field]” 4/n
