Why Denis Zakaria is perfect for Manchester United.

Firstly i want to identify the type of player Manchester United need for the DM role, in my opinion Man Utd need a defensive midfielder who can win the ball but also contribute to the team by progressing the ball well and Zakaria is just that.

A lot of people will spam eye test but Zakaria has passed the eye test for me so i’ll be using stats to show why he’s suitable for United.

To start off Zakaria is a good passer, he completes 87% of his passes and 83% of his long balls. for context this is better than Ndidi, Casemiro, Rice and our current DM Nemanja Matic.

Zakaria is also good at progressing the ball and driving up the pitch if needed, he completes 1.72 dribbles per 90 at a 75% success rate and he averages 37 ball carries per game progressing the ball a total of 139 yards forwards per match.

As for defensive numbers Zakaria makes 4.3 tackles and interceptions p/90, the most for his club. This is more than Rodri, Fabinho & Matic. Zakaria also rarely get booked with 0.3 yellow cards p/90. As for blocks & clearances Zakaria makes 1.6 clearances and 2 blocks per match.

Another impressive stat is that Zakaria has not made a single error leading to a shot over the past 2 seasons.

Nemanja Matic is slowly ageing out and i think Zakaria is the perfect replacement and at the age of 23 he could be out defensive midfielder for the next 6-8 years.
