My social media ads lately have been for razors. And I'm sitting here like jokes on them because shaving is a stupid societal norm that I don't buy into. I rarely do it and when I do, it's for me and no one else.
While we're at it, I don't really buy into societal gender roles. Make up? Nah, I'd rather spend my money on something else. Dresses? On occasion. They're comfy and some days I'm feeling it. Heels? F no. I already have a jank ankle why would I put myself through that pain?
It took me a long time to be comfortable with who I am and what I like. Is that to say anyone who does like those things is wrong? Nope. Do what makes you comfortable an happy. But as for me? I'm a "braid my hair to get it out of the way, t-shirt and jeans, no make up" person.
And the fact that I have people in my life who feel "It's such a waste" and I could "look so much better if only I tried" is frustrating.
And I'm tired of hearing how I'll "never get a guy with that attitude" because, guess what? I don't even WANT a romantic relationship. Why do I care what people think of my looks?
Well, that's the end of my rant. I hope more people can learn to be more comfortable in their own skin. No one else's opinion matters. Do what makes you the most comfortable and happy.
