Because people are asking #DominicCummings has a Land Rover Discovery HSE R-Dyn (Diesel) with a 65 litre tank and a maximum mpg of 46.3mpg. An absolute maximum range of 699.1 miles. But that is from brim full to running out of fuel.

Most drivers will not achieve anything close to the WLTP MPG - more likely around 80% of it. Which gives #DominicCummings a range of about 560 miles - assuming the tank was 100% full before he set off.

#DominicCummings has said he had a full tank, (so he must have refuelled after his wife showed symptoms), London to Durham is 270 miles, round trip to Barnard Castle is another 60 miles = 330 miles. He could not have got back to London without refuelling.

Its odd he seems unsure of whether he stopped on the way back. I think the journos need to ask for the fuel receipts before the trip and on the way back. That will prove or disprove things.

I should add that I was using quoted figures from @LandRover_UK / @LandRoverUKPR
