I’m staying now in rural washington state in a furnished apartment that is so much nicer than anywhere I have ever lived before I can’t quantify it. Categorically better in every way
(it’s also cheaper than EVERYTHING in SF including cramming 4 single people in a 2 bed apt)

we are the only people in our town that do not own a german shepherd. when we go on adorable rural walks around our house, the dogs bark furiously at us, and lunge towards us with their teeth bared, jumping up behind their chain link fences. they bark all through our zoom calls.
Dirt biking is a common hobby / form of transportation in my town.
There are between 0-1 grocery stores.
Like it’s all fine, I’m happy to be here but ya, downsides exist for sure.
