Top 10 Rappers of all time

A thread:
10. Kendrick Lamar

He came into the rap scene in 2011 under the name K Dot and after his debut album Section 80 he made 2 conscious rap albums, GKMC and TPAB. These both propelled his career as he showcased his story telling ability, lyricism and consistency.
Many would even say that he was robbed of the Grammy’s best rap album of the year award in 2014 with the winner, Macklemore, saying that Kendrick’s GKMC was more deserving than his ‘Heist’
9. Andre 3000

He made his career by performing in OutKast, a duo with Big Boi. He shined in this group as he was able to show his natural rapping talent whilst being able to merge with other musicians. He was involved in many classic albums such as Stankonia and ATLiens
There is huge debate over which member of OutKast was better and although we love Big Boi, Andre 3000 is just better in almost every aspect
8. Dr Dre

The main man in NWA, one of the greatest groups to ever touch the rap scene. He wasn’t ever afraid to say what was on his mind no matter the consequences. He showed he could perform individually as he went on to release the Chronic and 2001, Both undeniable classics
He was working on Detox but it was never released as he was said to be so much of a perfectionist that he believed that most songs weren’t good enough even though many rap greats disagreed. He is an even better producer than rapper. The beats he made on 2001 were revolutionary
7. RedMan

The front man of Wu tang clan, he was always able to make amazing music that has endless playback ability. To be able to shine and be the best in a group filled with so many stars such as Method Man and GhostFace Killah is an incredible feat.
Method man has been so influential over the years as his wacky, wild style was what inspired Eminem. This in itself is a massive reason as to why he is one of the GOATs
6. Rakim

He rose to fame as apart of a duo with Eric B as he used rhyme schemes and lyrics that had never been done before. He was one of the first to bring rap into the public’s eyes and its widely regarded as a pioneer of rap.
He is without a doubt one of the most talented, skilled and influential MCs we will ever see and Hip Hop wouldn’t be anywhere near what it is today if it weren’t for him
5. Jay Z

The a New York rapper has timeless classics. The way he raps about how he went from a crack dealer struggling to surivive to a self made millionaire (now billionaire) is jaw dropping and truly inspiring. Albums like the black album and the blueprint were groundbreaking
Hov later did a joint album with Kany west which showcased both of their abilities and amazing cohesion and chemistry. He was the better musician on the majority of the tracks but they were both incredible
4. Tupac

What can you say about Tupac. Influential is one word that comes to mind. He could make a song about literally anything wether it be a story about a young girls pregnancy, a diss track on a close friend or just a song to sit back and vibe to. Tupac even tried acting
He was sadly killed at the age of 25 and still had 3 classic albums in a row and reportedly had over 700 unreleased songs. If he weren’t killed so young I have no doubt he would have made so many more classics that he could be considered the undisputed goat.
3. Notorious BIG

Biggie smalls was simply outstanding, he started his career by doing battles on the streets and he then grew to be famous and dropped one of the goat albums. He, like his friend Tupac, was also shot and killed at such a young age.
He introduced some of the best rhyme schemes and songs the world has ever seen. Not only could he construct an amazing verse he could also make an amazing hook. He truly had it all and is no doubt one of the greatest to ever perform
2. Eminem

One of the first white rappers to ever make it big but his race has nothing to do with how good he is. His first album showed a wacky side of Slim a Shady where he speaks about drug use and some highly controversial topics.
As his career went on his lyricism skyrocketed as his styled changed from crazy shady, to an angry non caring Eminem and a story telling Marshall. With songs like Stan he will go down as one of the greatest lyricists and storytellers rap as ever seen
Some would say he has regressed with recent albums but to have a discography of over 20 years and not drop an album below a 7 is an amazing feat that many couldn’t do
1. Nas

The king of New York dropped Illmatic, the greatest rap album ever made, at a very young age. He then released It was written which showed he wasn’t just a one hit wonder. Although he never managed to top Illmatic he still made countless classics and stayed consistent
He had the confidence to go after Jay Z, one of the greatest at the time and best him. Ether was one of the best diss tracks ever made and it showed that he really shouldn’t be messed with by any MC. His influence is undeniable and no rapper will ever be as good.
