So much to appreciate as an African yet a whole lot to reflect as the continent whose wealth was instrumental in revamping the planet to what we know it to be right now can't beat her chest in the gathering of her peers. Oh my Africa! #AfricaDay

A Thread.
Africa has over the centuries being so important in survival of the human race that even God sent Joseph and Mary here as they escaped the murder scheme of King Herod.😄
From the Algeria the largest(by area), down to Seychelles the smallest, she is blessed.

The outside world would make you believe there was little or history attached to the continent pre colonial rule but Africa had more contact with the world than you think. You doubt this then where did Mansa Musa go for his own pilgrimage?👀

We have had our share of great Kings and Queens. Ezana Axum of Ethiopia, Mansa Musa(arguably the richest man ever), Oba Ewuare of the Benin Empire, Oduduwa of Great Ife, Queen Amina of Zaria(My heroine as a child), Queen Nandi of Zulu, Queen Moremi of Ife...😍😍 #AfricaDay
Blessed with lands, it has some of the amazing historical sites in the world. The Thebes of the Luxor Temple in Egypt remains one of my favorite places (I haven't been there, yet😉) and the same country is home to the Great Pyramids of Giza(a wonder of the world)🥺🥺 #AfricaDay
To speak scientifically, the continent (central East Africa), is believed by many to be the place of the human race origin....yes please 😋😉
Early civilization started here too...we once saved the world from extinction(go and ask Jacob why everyone was buying food from Egypt).😄
We are know to endure harsh conditions presented by mother nature and pick up from anywhere to rebuild. Did you know that the Sahara was once fertile and had inhabitants? Well, when a tilt in the Earth's Orbit brought dryness, they moved and rebuilt again. #AfricaDay
Still on civilization, the art of writing began in ancient Africa with the Egyptian Empire known to have invented the 'hieroglyphs' and developed the world's oldest alphabets. It's why it's disheartening to imagine the continent still has a high illiteracy rate.💔💔 #AfricaDay
Talk about our Music, Arts, Foods, Cultures, Festivals, Myths and Legends; indeed we are blessed. With the second highest population just behind Asia and with over 1500 languages (makes me wonder why they didn't kuku build the towel of Babel here😂), diversity is 🥺🙌🏼 #AfricaDay
The Melanin of our skin is also one of diverse amazing things nature blessed us with. And yes, Abani Darego(first picture) is from the country of my birth, Nigeria.🥺🥺

Next time you listen to 'Brown Skin Girl' or watch Black Panther, remember Lupita Nyong'o #AfricaDay
To end this, I'd use the words of @kfayiga, "If the continent can't rise up from the ashes to change the narrative the rest of the world gives it to a bigger decree, we'd go nowhere and the little gains will be inconsequential". So Yes Africa, CHANGE THE NARRATIVE! #AfricaDay
