If we sign Joshua King he will be a bench player and tasked with impacting the game when called upon. So, he must utilise his minutes well.

Since 2015/16, he has 36 NPGoals and 12 assists in 128 90s with an OK efficiency of +0.734 per season – slightly above average.
It should be noted that this level of productivity should improve once playing with better players. However, does he have the necessarily skillset to succeed as an impact player? He needs good off-ball intelligence, spacial awareness and a quick first step.
Solskjær is one of the best judges of this type of profile as he made a career out of it at the club. In fact, he was one of the best in the world in what he did.
Personally, I would have preferred Ighalo due to his archetype. We were able to find him on the long ball and his hold-up play was valuable. Also, he had an eye for goal and good movement.
Nevertheless, signing King isn't necessarily a ‘bad’ signing per se — others factors are important too — but is he the player we need to fulfill that off-the-bench role? I am unsure and, quite frankly, not confident in that at all for now.
