This Cummings statement has a real, convoluted, dog-ate-my-homework feel to it. Especially the bit about the 30-mile eyesight test drive.

This is just a very long-winded version of Johnson’s, “He did nothing wrong” answers yesterday, with some added stuff about the media being to blame. Can’t imagine it’s going to improve things very much.

Cummings effectively blames media coverage of his actions for the public anger, not the actions themselves. This is not a man able to take responsibility for what he does.

Boris Johnson’s press conference last night would usually be the most disastrous political event of the year. It’s now not even the most disastrous of the last 24 hours.

Hang on? Does Cummings really think people are only angry with him about the disputed report that he returned to Durham? This is delusional.
