The response to the #LIBREV conference was incredible & we know many of you wanted to keep the momentum going. We're pleased to invite you all to join the #LIBREV messageboard here: https://discourse.libraryworkers.net/  There's also an evolving #LIBREV website here: http://librev.info  1/8
What this is: A community for building solidarity - both between members and I hope with like-minded comrades in orgs like @librarieswehere, @LibraryFreedom, @librarydefend, Radical Reference, you name it. #LIBREV says library workers make libraries as institutions possible. 2/8
What this can be: Whatever you want. We can have convos on Twitter, we can set up a Slack channel, whatever makes sense to keep the momentum going. Right now, it's a Discourse messageboard, chosen bc it's not a tool of surveillance capitalism & has features to foster dialog. 3/8
What this can be continued: My vision is a new library organization that hosts conferences and learning & networking opportunities, but with an emphasis on workers, organizing, and advocacy & low barriers to entry. Folks who meet here may be the ones to form a national union. 4/8
What this is not: A national library workers' union. We don't dispute the need for this, but #LIBREV isn't aiming to be that right now. But that being said, this is a place to convene, organize, & find solidarity. It would be a huge project-maybe communicating here is step 0. 5/8
You do need to create an account for the messageboard bc there will be sensitive topics; we don't want anyone to feel jeopardized by their managers or others for speaking their truth. An email address is required; if you don't want to use a personal one, consider ProtonMail. 6/8
You're free to be as anonymous as you like. Before you register for an account, pls take a look at the #LIBREV principles of unity & code of conduct here: http://librev.info/principles-conduct.php These are the expectations for our community, written together by a group of initial volunteers. 7/8
If you're in a place right now where you're struggling w/managers forcing curbside or more complete reopenings, or you've been following #ProtectLibraryWorkers & #closethelibraries, or your leaders are failing you, we want you to join us. Find support & build a better future. 8/8
