A big reason why I don’t see myself living with a man again any time soon (or maybe ever) is because I refuse to be the only person in a household who knows how to cook, and I also refuse to that thing where you enthusiastically applaud an adult for picking up a basic life skill.
Sabotaging my own romantic options by being a mean mommy
As an FYI if you’re a man who feels compelled to brag about how you’re a better cook than all the women you know you’re not burning me as hard as you think! The flip side of the phenomenon I’m lamenting is men who see themselves as *chefs* while women are merely *cooks*.
Under the patriarchy men cannot simply perform domestic labor, they must *master* and *elevate* it, separating it from the common drudgery done by women. Still the same fucked system.
Muting this thread cause I legit don’t care about the fact that some men are capable cooks, nor do I need inspirational tweets about how one day I’ll find a partner I want to live with, a thing I don’t particularly desire in the first place!
Very interested in talking about Past Tense tho https://twitter.com/luxalptraum/status/1264953105545822208?s=21 https://twitter.com/luxalptraum/status/1264953105545822208
