People with a “MCU is the only way to do it” mentality give me headaches.
Why are we pretending that they creating the ensemble film? Why? Movies have had large casts for decades. The X-Men movies had a large cast 12 years before The Avengers.
You do not have to wait 10 years for an epic villain fight. The only reason Marvel did, was because Thanos was saved for the series finale. The MCU is a TV show. Zack was making films.
And how are we ignoring that Zack set up Darkseid in BvS? He wasn’t the main villain in JL. They weren’t going to fight him until JL2. That means they used two films to set him up. On their own, one film is can do that.
But for a series, two is historically enough to set up your BIG BAD.
Most of the MCU films involve setting up the stones that link to Thanos. Phase 1 was all about the Space Stone. Phase 2 had the Power Stone, Reality Stone, and Mind Stone. Phase 3 had the Time and Soul Stones. That’s six episodes right there.
Darkseid doesn’t have a glove. The Antilife Equation can be explained in one film. Why would you need ten years to set up for someone when you can do it in two? Why draw it out if you don’t want to?

Answer: Don’t.
The MCU is the exception, not the rule. Film did not operate that way before, it shouldn’t have to after.
