God promised Abraham his descendants would be as "numerous as the stars" (Genesis 22:17 NIV).
There are more than 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars.
About 100,000,000,000 people have lived on Earth.
At least 99,999,999,999,900,000,000,000 more descendants are needed.

Grains of sand was also used. A little better with only 4,900,000,000,000+ descendants to go.
Wait, I hear the replies already: Metaphor!
The numbers are so off that it& #39;s a bad metaphor & the God of Abraham sounds like a human writer who didn& #39;t have a clue about stars or sand.

I can see some of my monotheistic readers are having trouble grasping the scale of these numbers, and why the promise doesn& #39;t make sense even as a metaphor.
The promise cited above is the mathematic equivalent of my telling my grandson he will grow to be 1.4 billion miles tall.

Please note that I have not identified this as a primary or conclusive argument against the existence of God. I& #39;ve described my reasons for leaving faith in my books. This is simply 1 more example of the Bible being a human book written by humans attempting to explain the world.
