A good 60 percent of being a female academic on Twitter is saying something and then someone rolls up and says “look it’s understandable you don’t know much about your field but I have a degree in an unrelated area and have read unspecified books so let me help you out.”

Just a word to the wise: if a woman is talking and you disagree, and the last explanation you are willing to entertain for why you approach this differently from her is that you have something to learn from her, there is a damned good chance you’ve got some bigotry going on.
