Alts peaked almost 3 weeks after $BTC peaked in the December 2017 - January 2018 run. If alts market-cap breaks out of the iHS (unconfirmed still) we could see something similar right now...
Just to tie this thread up, $BTC dominance lines up nicely with this hypothesis. Targets mentioned on the chart (re-hashing what several others have already mentioned)
