1/2 #dominiccummings’ imminent statement is unprecedented because it’s not allowed under the Code to which he is bound. I’ve looked at the CODE OF CONDUCT FOR SPECIAL ADVISERS which states:
'Contacts with the media …
2/3 14. Special advisers must not take public part in political controversy, through any form of statement whether in speeches or letters to the press, or in books, social media, articles or leaflets. They must observe discretion and express comment with moderation...
3/3....avoiding personal attacks, and would not normally speak in public for their Minister or the Department.'
Either Cummings is above the rules again, or there’s been an unpublished amendments to this.
(Just seen it's been pointed out across twitter - this is getting increasingly interesting!)
