So Cummings the adviser is doing a public statement and Q&A today because his boss the prime minister got it wrong yesterday.

Just think what it means for our politics.

Questions I’d ask if I were a journalist:
1. Do you think your contribution to public life is great enough to outweigh the pain and anger your presence causes to the millions who sacrificed so much? Can you describe that contribution please?
2. Do you believe the spirit and letter of rules apply to unelected bureaucrats as they do everyone else?
3. If every parent responded to the situation as you did do you believe levels of contagion would be higjer or lower today?
4. If your actions were within the rules why did Number 10 brief the @FT you were in London, your wife omit your location in her article, and the PM’s spokesman deny outright (wrongly) that you’d left London when asked?
