The cars stopped to allow them to cross over to this bridge near Auldhouse Park.

Problem was the bridge is quite high. We tried to guide her away from it into the park so she could access the river from there but she could see it below her and would not be deflected from it.

An old couple arrived and the man used his walking stick to shepherd them, but she was having none of it.

Suddenly, she jumped Kamikaze style from the bridge and before any of us could do anything the ducklings all followed.

There were many gasps of horror but when we looked over, seven little balls of fluff got to their feet and followed her along the river bank. So there you go: a happy ending.
