Perhaps I haven't thought this through... but I think it is inevitable, and probably right, that Cummings is doing (having to do?) his own press conference. 1/5

On Saturday, and Sunday morning, I had some sympathy for Grant Shapps, who was forced to come out and bat for Cummings, without any sort of script. 2/5

Then on Sunday, Boris Johnson, spoke to Cummings, and in the briefing, failed to address any of the key questions concerning Cummings' conduct. 3/5

We could have just got more of the same today (as we did from Gavin Williamson)... but that wouldn't shed any further light.

The only person in a position to answer the questions is Cummings himself. 4/5

I don't expect the press conference to be easy, or comfortable, for him.

And I'm very curious to see what he says, and how he says it. 5/5
