Oil is a blind spot for Nigerians when arguing about poverty, resource control & governance generally.
SS always say our oil & discount how useless their leadership has been, while the North use SS leaders as a convenient foil for their unjustifiable dominance of same resources.
I believe that resource control will not solve the problems of the SS/SE & that the North needs greater resource control for its residents to have a better life.
Nonetheless, let us go back to the regional days, 60/70 to the region & 40/30 to centre and see it play out
When your destiny is in your hands, the age old feudalistic nature of the North won't be able to continue or it will turn to Somalia of the early 90s.
Maybe more resources will also allow the SS leaders to help their communities enough because there will enough left after graft.
The SW & SE will sort themselves out one way or another, that is clear to see.
The present argument about one part being nepotistic and dominating government jobs and whatever is pointless because we are inevitably justifying graft by assuming that a more egalitarian composition of the civil service will mean resources will trickle down more fairly.
