I'm super mad at everything Euroleague related right now, so it's not gonna be nice tweets, but here are my thoughts on what is wrong with Euroleague right now.

Even with IMG as a main partner, Euroleague and its clubs are failing to become profitable....
There is no business model in most the clubs and the ones that have something similar to that are gonna be hit the hardest by this crisis.

Lack of financial stabilty is what caused this season to be cancelled...
Bundesliga, Premier league, La Liga and UEFA Champions league are coming back why? Because there's financial interest there. Basketball is nowhere close to that and not even moving towards that.
A month ago players worked out a nice 20% paycut and then leveraged their power to end the season altogether. Some clubs did not even blink.

What's next then? Some could expect that this crisis would initiate some changes:
financial rules being put in place, some kind of salary restrictions/rules to be implemented and so on. Crisis is a time of oportinity after all, no?

Well, in this case, I guess no...
From what I'm hearing, Zenit St. Petersburg is gonna be the big spender this summer, willing to assemble a F4 material roster. It's a team that does not even have a valid licence to play in Euroleague (hello, wild cards) and plays in a 7000 seat arena...
And then there is Maccabi, Baskonia and Žalgiris, iconic clubs who will struggle mightilty because they depend on ticket sales. These are the clubs with longterm structure in place and have loyal fanbases but they will be nowhere close to what Zenit can offer. How is this normal?
...A great leader could have done something about this loooong time ago. And yet Jordi Bertomeu just cancelled the season and I'm not sure if he has a plan how to fix this mess moving forward
