It’s international #missingchildren day today and I’ve seen lots of images of cold cases in my feed. I’ve been interviewing forensic workforce lately about trauma exposure and so many respondents say that there is always that once case that gets ‘in’. #IMCD2020 /1
I hear stories all the time about people’s worst days, and I concur. Some do get ‘in’ more than others. In 2006 I was at a training seminar at @ICMEC_official and Colleen from @Morgan_Nick talked about the night her daughter vanished. #IMCD2020 /2
She said she was at a ballgame. She looked, looked away, and then looked back and Morgan was gone. I’ve always thought of those words over the years while out with my own kids. It doesn’t mean her trauma, traumatized me. #IMCD2020 /3
It just reminds me how when we hear #livedexperience of grief and trauma we owe it to stop and listen. It shapes the work we do, it shapes our research, and it shapes how we live our lives. #IMCD2020 /4
So if you’re glancing at the images, like these ones shared by @AusFedPolice https://missingpersons.gov.au/international-missing-childrens-day-2020?fbclid=IwAR3sj7edY6XPGAw2A4xjEflj3dF8hevQrBB_Sei3EtnXM2qSsPPyKfd6kUY focus on thinking beyond the faces and reflect on the stories of waiting. They deserve a reunion. #IMCD2020 /5
