I have something to say, and it’s important.
The government are disassembling democracy for their own ends. Now, for the first time, we really are run by unelected bureaucrats.
The botched response to Covid-19 was extremely expensive; in human terms, in long-term MH terms and monetarily. The government’s largesse will have to be repaid, and that won’t be by corporations.
There will be a period of austerity +, both to pay for this and as an ideological goal. In the next eight months a while demographic’s livelihoods will be wiped out. Some of these people will never again work in their chosen career.
We are entering a period where job-wise, a driving licence will be of the same value as a degree.
Crime will rise, as will insolvency, bankruptcies, house re-possessions, MH problems and suicides. There will be a complete divide between the Haves and the Have Nots
Public services will be cleaved into those for the Haves and those for the Have Nots; if you get burgled, the chances of investigation will be postcode-based, high value areas will get a better chance than areas with demonstrable poverty
The hard-pressed blue light services and council services will have to choose who to prioritise, and they will choose those that can sue them if they do not make this call in their favour
Your only redress to this is personal, small group and community resilience. Organising yourselves, with people you trust, to insulate yourself against the worst and to make up the shortfalls. You’ll need to do this as a way of life.
Austerity has gone on for 10 years now, what is coming will engulf a whole generation. The time is short to plan and execute your mitigations, and it is now. End
