White, the wolf head of the farm who is both blind and hard of hearing, lost his deputy, the wily fox Kyama who controlled him. Kyama kept White in a corner of the farm, acting on his behalf, appointing animals, allocating grain and every so often, wheeling him out to applause...
No one heard the voice of Kyama. He had parrots on his right and on his left giving orders in the name of White the farm leader. And when people would ask Kyama he would shrug and point at the parrots. Legend grew around Kyama. And people called him wise and smart and kind.
When Kyama wanted to change anything his parrots would put out word in the name of White our Immaculate Lord and Savior Who Can Do No Wrong. And the animals worshipped White whose silence was called wisdom, whose deafness was called patience and his blindness, impartiality.
The thing is, Kyama, the animal gods rest his soul, was not always the deputy. The real deputy, was a tiny tortoise called Sinbad (or Bad Joe behind his back) who was wise but moved so slow that he was no match for the wily fox Kyama. Kyama tied Sinbad's hind legs to reeds...
And in silence Kyama moved through the farm that was covered in blood and darkness, his parrots praising the name of their lord and savior White and demanding worship and honor and giving orders in the name of White, blind and hard of hearing and suffering erectile dysfunction.
A few weeks after Kyama fell into an abandoned hunters trap in the jungle and died, a strange silence fell upon the farm. It was the law that dead animals had to be mourned. And that no one could speak evil of dead animals for at least a few weeks. Animals composed praise songs..
They praised Kyama for being a wily fox who could read. The pigs said he was on the verge of transforming the farm and making it cool and bright. The vultures said he was the smartest animal on the farm. Some eagles shed tears recollecting when he visited or touched them.
But Sir Na the powerful little monkey who had been denied access to White by Kyama and Shanaya one of White's two wives who was denied access (she blamed White's erectile dysfunction on Kyama) struggled to restrain themselves. They too reluctantly mourned Kyama in public.
And all the while Bowler, the owl (whose name was actually a reference to his bulgy eyes and who was a fugitive from another farm who had grown into immense power on his corner of the farm) watched silently. He knew White was blind and deaf. And even more so without Kyama.
Bowler wanted to take over the farm. But he was not indiscreet like the little monkey Sir Na who announced every move he was about to make, making him easy to counter. Bowler knew that even if White was blind and deaf (and had erectile dysfunction) animals still worshipped him.
So Bowler allowed his loyalists to start testing the waters. And everyone who cowered under the shadow of Kyama began to rise slowly. And fights slowly began to happen in the ruling council of White. And even though he was hard of hearing he began to as Shanaya (who had returned)
...he said, Shanaya my Shanaya. (Shanaya was massaging his thighs, a therapy she learnt from another farm that could work for ED)
Shanaya said, White my immaculate White. He could not hear, so she tapped him twice to acknowledge.
What's that rumble I feel, he asked.
And Shanaya tapped him three times to let him know that everything was OK on the farm. She did not want to make him panic for if he knew how bad things were she would have no chance of every curing him of his ED. She wanted to cherish these moments which she lost under Kyama.
