because I’ve never really seen anyone speak up about it, I decided to, so... discussing armys’ hypocrisy involving the maknae line — a thread

disclaimer also, it will take a while for me to post this entire thread, because there is a LOT to say, so please bear with me until the end

when someone is defending the maknae line it’s ALWAYS brushed off as “solo stans acting up”. ALWAYS. no, I’m just an army who cares about the hyung line and the maknae line equally, as any ot7 army should. I’m really tired of it, so I’m finally making this thread.

armys like to act deliberately obtuse. nobody cares if you post equally about each member. having a bias is a thing. but purposefully excluding the same exact member multiple times is really fishy, don’t you think?

I don’t know why people defending the maknae line are always written off as solos. maybe because maknae line solos are very loud and have poisoned people’s view. but maybe you should put bts before your hatred for solo stans once in a while.

first I want to talk about bora, aka modooborahae. you’ve probably heard her name before. she’s done a lot of controversial things, particularly towards the maknae line. note that she has a huge following.

she has a history of completely ignoring/excluding JM. for instance, she excluded the lab’s instagram post about JM. you could say “she just didn’t see it, it was an accident.” okay, it would make sense, except...

she later posted this screenshot of JK from the lab’s instagram story, and...

there were ELEVEN (11) reposts of JM in the lab’s instagram BEFORE the JK one. how did she conveniently “miss” ELEVEN POSTS? did she just go blind when he appeared??

here’s yet another instance of her excluding JM. she forgot BOTH of his tweets that hit 2M. she also forgot taekook’s tweet. you could say “she just accidentally missed it” yeah, well...

she had to pass by all three posts to get to the other ones. how did she just happen to miss all three? (also if you’re wondering why I have most retweeted but not liked it’s because twitter removes my likes often )

she supported a youtuber who is quite obviously a violent JM anti...

you cannot tell me that youtuber is not 100% a JM anti. so the question is why did bora support them and post clips of the video on her page?

these two OPENLY claimed sweet night had stayed at #1 on itunes because of v/pn. why would you say that when you have such a huge following and your tweets are so visible to antis? it’ll just start rumors.

in fact it wasn’t v/pn, it was apple’s fault. (sorry that the screenshot is of crab, it’s the only one I have.) is it that unthinkable for them that his song was just good enough to get #1, so they automatically assumed it was v/pn? isn’t that insulting to TH’s artistry??

she also retweeted this to her 100K+ followers. there’s nothing wrong with TH v/aping, it’s his life, but why would you retweet this when you have such a huge platform? it’s just setting him up for hate and malicious rumors.

she also openly mocked JK’s music taste DIRECTLY UNDER HIS TWEET. because she has so many followers and gets so many likes, it would be so easy for JK to see it. I don’t like JB either, but I won’t say it underneath JK’s tweet, where he is most likely to see it.

bora has done all these things and MORE against the maknae line, yet she still has over 100K followers and minions valiently defending her. do the maknae line not matter to you? I’m willing to bet money that armys wouldn’t let it slide if she constantly excluded SJ or YG, for ex.

moving on. now I’m going to talk about shipping. shipping is HUGE with the maknae line, particularly taekook and jikook. I’m not against shipping, but I have things to discuss about it.

taekook_lives is the biggest taekook account with an especially huge following on youtube. I actually used to watch her videos as a baby army, so I know exactly how she works...

she not only disrespects JM as some “homewrecker,” she also glorifies toxic relationships (constantly portraying the jealous narrative). she often makes assumptions about their mental health, especially TH’s. and idc if you’re a “theorist,” that‘s NOT your place as a fan.

having such a big platform, she literally manipulates baby armys every day. (myself included at one point.) she calls herself an analyst, but her videos go beyond that into an invasion of taekook’s privacy, lies and subtle manipulation of the viewers.

the biggest jikook account is jikookrelated/jikookvideos. the last screenshot proves they are the same person. they’re a taehyung anti. (see the next tweet)

here is proof of jikookrelated being a TH anti, shading and disrespecting him. I have never watched their videos and I don’t intend to, but I’d assume this hatred for TH is visible in their youtube videos.

these delusional, disrespectful shippers have such a HUGE platform in this fandom and people just ALLOW it despite the fact that they disrespect all three members of the maknae line. many armys really don’t see much worth in the maknae line beyond shipping them.

there’s nothing wrong with simple shipping, but many armys often take it to a disrespectful level with the maknae line, to the point where they value the maknae line as shipping pawns before them as artists and real people. for ex, this person’s first thought was about their ship

rather than celebrating JK’s artistry, they instantly made it about their ship. what do you stan for, the ship or the artists?

moving on again to discuss armys’ general attitudes towards the maknae line. it is so extremely common and normalized to poke fun at every aspect of their lives and to doubt their artistic skills. it’s really sad.

armys have clowned JK to such an extent that LITERAL ARTICLES were written about it. that means a HUGE portion of the fandom participated. do you know he could see these?? do you just not care?

JK can’t breathe without armys making fun of him for something: his appearance, his interests, his intelligence, his hobbies, his clothes. I remember JK was filmed reading a book by Charles Dickens and someone insulted his intelligence, saying he is not smart enough to read...

Dickens. how do YOU know that? you’re his fan, not his friend. know the difference and know where the line is.

I’ve actually seen this happen right in front of my eyes: armys who were defending people who called JK’s tattoos ugly did a complete 180 and condemned anyone who called NJ pretentious. neither should be acceptable, so why is making fun of JK so normalized?

armys have the weirdest tendency to downplay and doubt JM’s skills. he’s never good enough for you. it’s always “well, he could improve.” you are NOT the vocal coach or dance instructor you think you are.

I specifically remember when the art film for black swan came out, some people said they’d like to see JM perform the choreo. and many armys said he isn’t capable. how do YOU, a FAN, know what he can or can’t do?

JM literally got to take lessons for free because he was THAT talented. he has studied multiple types of dance but eventually focused on contemporary and he was the TOP student. he practiced for YEARS before training under BH. you don’t get to downplay his natural talents.

also, JM had an extremely short training period. he became a trainee in 2012 and as we know, bts debuted in 2013. so you’d think he was already pretty talented before he signed under BH.

and the funny part is that those “pros” or “expert contemporary dancers” ended up being STUDENTS. literal students.

while we are on the topic of armys doubting JM’s skills, many do doubt his vocal skills. many think he is not a good vocalist. I guess they were influenced by the compilation of voice cracks that kpop stans obsessively spread? sure, his voice cracks sometimes...

when he’s sick, he doesn’t have a proper in-ear piece or when his throat is strained. you can find voice cracks on youtube for ANY artist, they don’t make you a bad singer. what matters is that JM constantly gets praised by other vocalists and professionals in the industry.

I’ve also seen armys doubting TH’s vocal skills but less commonly. either way, TH is also constantly praised by industry professionals as well. JM and TH are amazing vocalists with vocal color and range. why would you doubt them?? do you doubt our rappers if they stumble?

also, situation with jinoreacts... this is what he said about promise. I wouldn’t be angry if he only disliked it, no one would because we’re all entitled to our own taste, but this is just disrespectful and rude. he called the song forced and JM a tryhard.

people were defending jino saying “JM IS inexperienced” but he’s NOT the newbie you think he is. he wrote lyrics to lie and boyz with fun, he wrote the melody for bs&t, he created his own demo for fake love, etc. and we don’t even know half of what goes on behind the scenes.

I’ve noticed that armys tend to doubt TH and JM’s artistry most out of the maknae line, and they’ll let people blatantly insult those two. why? don’t you feel the need to defend them and their artistry? I love all of the members and I won’t let someone disrespect them.

armys also tend to make fun of TH. I’ve seen it less than JK, but people still cross the line a lot with TH. it’s common to portray him as “dumb” or “weird” for a joke. I’ve people are so quick to call out anyone disrespecting the hyung line in a joke, but it’s never the same

with the maknae line. we’re always just “overreacting” and “it’s just a joke.” we have no idea what the members see on here, especially with posts that go viral. even though they’re younger, the maknae line have feelings too.

I can’t find the screenshot anymore, but there was someone who was actually MAD at BH for “caving” and correcting the mots merch that accidentally excluded TH. they were private at the time and blocked me for posting a screenshot, so it was clearly something they wanted to hide

and it makes me wonder just how many “ot7” accounts feel the same way. why would you not want it to be corrected? I didn’t agree with trending the # either, but I was so happy when they fixed the merch because bts is SEVEN, not six. can’t you set aside your hatred for a moment

and actually be ot7? why would you want ot6 merch? does TH mean that little to you??

there’s also this type of behavior. people really put their hatred of BH/solo stans AHEAD of bts. you stan bts, shouldn’t you want the best for them before anything else? like, why would you HOPE it’s NOT JK’s mixtape just because a solo stan made you mad??

now let’s discuss how quick armys are to throw the maknae line under the bus, ESPECIALLY JK and JM.

remember this shirt? the moment we saw it for the first time army twt was up in flames. “JM needs to be educated” and “JM is wrong” and “radical feminism = TERF” (that is absolutely incorrect by the way)

radical feminism is not inherently trans exclusionary and it is not bad, especially not in non-western countries. applying the western view of radical feminism onto asian radical feminism is just xenophobic. so many tried to paint him as transphobic and clear radical feminism

from his searches like he actually did something wrong. I was fighting people all day. I actually got dms thanking me for standing up for JM, which is just sad because that SHOULD be normal.

this is just self-explanatory.

as for JK, I didn’t forget how many armys threw him under the bus when the news of the 97 liners going to lunch came out. people were saying he’s irresponsible, he was wrong, and that he should apologize. he didn’t do anything wrong, there were no social restrictions.

if you want to talk about wrong, let’s discuss how five idols/public figures went out to a party after the second spread of covid in itaweon when it was prohibited. guess who did not face crazy outrage? those five. yet JK got international media dragging him.

I also remember that armys very quickly threw JM under the bus when details of his trip to paris were leaked. it seems like it’s a pattern at this point.

I forgot to mention this. aya, aka @/IMJOONSCRAB (who had somewhere around 30K-50K followers), spread rumors that my time and filter got #1 on itunes because of v/pn. SO MANY big accounts were spreading it like it was confirmed. then guess which songs charted on hot 100? hmm.

she also called my time and filter shitty. she later explained that it was “just out of frustration” but even if I was extremely frustrated, I wouldn’t insult JM and JK like that. that’s just disrespecting them as artists. yet no one even said anything until the armylympics

thing happened and she screwed up beyond repair, bringing up the boys’ mental health issues and nov 2018 on the website. that’s when people realized. funny how maknae line antis always have to do something EXTREME for everyone to realize their true colors.
