Long thread warning:This Dominic Cummings thing. He was wrong.Very wrong. He could have put an emergency back up plan in place that didn’t include going to Durham. He had friends and family in London if it got to the point that neither he or his wife could care for their child.
It seems it didn’t actually ever come to that though did it. So my 1st point is he should have admitted he was selfish &made a mistake. All his cronies backing him &justifying what he did well it’s an insult. An insult to us all but especially those who have made many sacrifices.
NHS &essential key workers who have moved out of family home’s to protect them. Those who have lost their lives caring for others. People who haven’t travelled to be with sick and dying loved ones. Grandparents who haven’t yet met their newborn grand babies.
Anyone who have vulnerable family members that they have had to leave to the care of others. All those who died without their loved ones around them. Funerals that couldn’t be attended. All of those people would have liked to ‘do what any parent would have done’ but they didn’t
they cared enough to make the sacrifice. He didn’t he thought only of himself. So you can call me a lefty if you like but if Bojo hasn’t the balls to sack him he should fall on his sword and resign. They have so misjudged this and proves how out of touch they are
with what the public has been going through. My 2nd point is that whilst I’ve said everything above I don’t agree with the way the media are harassing him, trial by media isn’t right. There should be an investigation which I fear will uncover many lies.
I don’t agree with what the press are doing but I also believe he’s brought that upon himself as has Bojo by not doing what we all know is right. So my sympathy is limited. Thirdly those quoting the guidance saying he didn’t do anything wrong well he did, it’s morally wrong
the guidance said he should stay at home. If you had symptoms you were to stay at home. The stuff about the safeguarding of vulnerable refers to helping those who couldn’t go out not childcare issues. So taking shopping to someone who was shielding or couldn’t do for themselves.
It would have referred to him & his family if they needed food or medicine because they couldn’t go out. It would have been someone coming to help with childcare if they got really sick or were hospitalised. He’s made a massive error of judgment &for that he needs to pay by
losing his job and he should be thankful or hope that he hasn’t infected someone who has lost their life or indeed lost a family member to Covid. #cummings
