ART CLUB-WEEK 1
POP ART is a style of art that began in the 1950's & is based on simple, bold images of everyday things. The first name that usually springs to mind is Andy Warhol and his tins of soup. I thought I'd introduce you to another pop artist... KEITH HARING @BorestoneP
Keith Haring, 1958-1990, started off as a graffiti artist in New York using unused advertising panels in the subway and walls of buildings as his canvas. He then went on to exhibit in 'proper' art galleries. He used simple bold images and solid blocks of colour in his work.
His work is easily recognised because of his characteristic figures surrounded by rhythmic lines that make them appear vibrating or moving, possibly dancing to the hip hop music he often listened to when painting
Here is a simple step by step guide to help you draw figures in the style of Keith Haring. Have a go and I will share my step by step efforts here too.
I had a go at this image...
Here is my final picture. Don't forget to add the movement lines for that Keith Haring effect. Have a go and please share your work on here, I'd live to see it. I'll have more Keith Haring activitiesfor you to try through the week. Enjoy.
