A personal thread on #Covid19UK and the #cancercrisis:
I am 52. I am waiting for my third brain tumour operation since 2014. Here’s me in the wig my daughters kindly lent me after shaving my head for the second op’. 1/6
I lost half my sight, but I’m alive, thanks to excellent NHS care from @KingsNeuro. And I want to live to see my girls grow up, make their own choices, maybe have kids of their own. 2/6
There is now a crisis in cancer care. Thousands of appointments and operations have been cancelled or postponed. Demand on radiotherapy will increase, and some treatments are being rationed. https://twitter.com/cpeedell/status/1263422634777284612">https://twitter.com/cpeedell/... @cpeedell 3/6
Maybe I shouldn’t, but with every day that my op’ is delayed, I worry that my prognosis gets worse, that I will need more radiotherapy, and face a higher risk of side effects and dying. 4/6
The best way to solve the #cancercrisis must surely be to keep viral transmission and #covid19 hospitalisations as low as possible 5/6
