UPDATE: I FOIed the DHSC communications around the decision to publish the COPI notices that Matt Hancock signed. It& #39;s a fascinating little look into the relationship between the Prime Minister& #39;s office and the Department of Health https://twitter.com/halhod/status/1245297265054367744?lang=en">https://twitter.com/halhod/st...
the DHSC starts pushing for publication three days after the new laws are signed, but it takes over a week of back and forth with No 10 before the info finally gets put on http://GOV.UK"> http://GOV.UK (here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-notification-of-data-controllers-to-share-information)">https://www.gov.uk/governmen...
here are a few "highlights" (sorry to anyone who is not a massive comms nerd. it is, in some ways, very dull stuff)
in my view, this email exchange shows No10& #39;s media narrative being prioritised over the transparent communication of emergency powers. that, imo, is not how this should be done, and goes to the heart of the some of the government& #39;s issues w covid response
(i note that, while likely meaningless, the DHSC team only got the greenlight from no10 *after* I published the notices at 11:30am GMT on April 1)
