1/7 Looking for the best suggestions for safe, legal, non-violent protest against Johnson/Cummings. Confirm plan 8pm Monday. First protest 8pm Tuesday. Johnson may have concluded Cummings acted responsibly, legally and with integrity, but many of us have not.
2/7 Their failure to provide a detailed explanation reinforces the view that Cummings didn’t act responsibly, legally and with integrity. Given Johnson’s track record of deceit, we can hardly be expected to take his word at face value that everything was OK?
3/7 The best suggestion so far is to add to the proposed #BooForBoris planned for 8pm Tuesday and create some noise outside the nearest Conservative Party office. Masks and social distancing would be required. Drums and dustbin lids optional. Maybe a #BangAgainstBoris ?
4/7 For theme music, “No more tears” by Barbra Streisland and Donna Summer seems to capture it:
Enough is enough (is enough)
I can't go on, I can't go on no more, no
Enough is enough (is enough)
I want him out, I want him out that door now…
5/7 If Cummings won’t resign and Johnson won’t sack Cummings, then Johnson has to go. The only people who can do that quickly and peacefully are Conservative MPs. They need to know that we will not accept Cummings and we will not accept Johnson’s support of Cummings.
6/7 Other suggestions include: marching to Westminster, driving to Westminster, gathering at service stations between London and Durham 8pm Tuesday, a London to Durham rally via service stations… Further suggestions welcome.
7/7 They’re hoping it will all blow over and they can continue as though nothing has happened. We need to let them know that they can’t. Updates to be provided as additions to this thread.
