Ranking the 16 wards of Southampton, a thread

16. Freemantle

- Super irrelevant
- Always forget it exists
- Literally no USP
- The only notable “thing” is its church which is shit
- Don’t know a single person in Southampton who lives there

15. Bassett

- Posh twats live here
- All about that detached house, car drive with a garage life
- Huge ass gardens
- Uber Tory
- Literally just houses & small convenience like barbers, pharmacies, etc.

14. Redbridge

- High key has the worst reputation of all wards
- Crime is super high here
- Literally high rise council flats
everywhere
- Only saving grace is its secondary school is pretty well respected across the city

13. Swaythling

- Full of students or old people
- Probably the dirtiest ward
- I was walking through here when I was 14 once and a rat was literally chilling in the street
- The smell, I will never forget the smell
- Uni is around here tho so potentially forgiven x

12. Bitterne Park

- Really overrated amongst Southampton residents
- Just because it has arguably the best secondary school
- Literally is just houses and the school
- Very hill-y, an absolute nightmare when you’re learning to drive

11. Peartree

- Not much to do here
- But I have had some great memories around here
- Some of my friends have lived here
- Has a really nice road to drive down that’s bump free

10. Portswood

- Pretty rough
- In urgent need of redevelopment
- Has a nice new Sainsbury’s but I don’t shop at Sainsbury’s so idc x
- Some of the worst traffic I’ve ever seen
- Does however boast a Farmfoods which is super cheap so up we go!

9. Coxford

- Somewhat forgettable
- I find it super quaint and cute tho
- Never really hear about too much trouble around here
- They’re just vibin’
- The General Hospital is around here too

8. Harefield

- Super cute
- Full of a lot of old people though
- Basically learned to drive here so it gets pushed up a bit x
- A bit out of the way though from the rest of the city

7. Bevois

- Unproblematic
- A nice drive
- The Common is around here
- Connects the uni and the city centre

6. Shirley

- Very rough
- The secondary school is full of cunts
- It does however have a very nice district shopping centre that is a fantastic alternative to the city centre if you don’t fancy the hustle and bustle of the city centre

5. Bitterne

- Worked here
- Has an okay district shopping centre
- Has the best Spoons I’ve ever been to
- Can be a bit rough
- FREE PARKING

4. Millbrook

- Pretty unproblematic
- My grandparents live here
- Super nice houses
- Genuinely just a chill area if you know the right places

3. Woolston

- My ward
- Super Labour
- We have the shore
- Woolston is an ok shopping district, has all the necessities
- Weston has a bad name

2. Bargate

- City centre
- Most affluent area
- City centre is actually really nice
- Looks even better now we have the Watermark
- Cruise terminal

1. Sholing

- Love it, the greatest people come from here
- Best Fish N Chips I’ve ever had from here
- Has some really quaint streets tucked away, some of the houses are gorgeous
- People are just super chill around here (excluding Thornhill)
