Alrighty y& #39;all Benny shared some of our good good Porntreon headcanons and now I& #39;m inspired to share more. So, here is: a poorly organized thread with our headcanons about Hizashi& #39;s family. (1/
Mic has two moms! Tbh we didn& #39;t come up with names for them, so for clarity& #39;s sake, let& #39;s call them Mari and Aika Yamada. (Did I still spend 10 minutes trying to find appropriate names? Irrelevant.) Mari is profoundly deaf and Aika is hard of hearing. (2/
(I& #39;m not in the Deaf community so I& #39;m very sorry if I mess up some terms!) Mari and Aika were together for quite a while before they decided to have kids via IVF. They weren& #39;t going for "quirk breeding," but... (3/
They figured, hey, if we get to pick the donor anyway, why not try for a quirk that could help out our kid? Aika has a voice range quirk, and she was going to carry the pregnancy. (4/
They found a donor with a volume quirk, and they thought "oh wouldn& #39;t it be sweet if our child could be a singer or a broadway actor" etc, so, they went with that one. (other reasons too, idk.) (5/
So they had Mic! And uh... it didn& #39;t take long to realize he was not gonna be a singer. He got the volume, and he got the range, but his tone and pitch were atrocious. He also damaged his own hearing at a pretty young age, which didn& #39;t help with learning pitch. (6/
Aika had been HoH for years, but unfortunately baby Mic damaged her hearing further. She& #39;s never blamed him for a second, but that didn& #39;t stop him from feeling horribly guilty when he found out. (7/
Since his parents were both fluent in sign language, Mic grew up bilingual right off the bat, and got into learning English not long after. He& #39;s also autistic (bc, projection) so the sign language helped a lot when he struggled with speaking. (8/
Because Austism, Mic got VERY into radio as a kid. At around 6 or 7 he started making his own little radio shows, complete with songs played through his phone speaker and recorded through his shitty mic. Regrettably, these never made it to air. (9/
(Aika and Mari absolutely still have those recordings. Sometimes Aika will play them while Mic& #39;s there and describe everything in vivid detail to Mari, and they will both coo over him, and he& #39;ll hate every second of it. They love him a lot.) (10/
When Mic was around 5, Aika and Mari had another kid (via IVF again). Aika, with the range quirk, carried the pregnancy again. They didn& #39;t want to look for a specific quirk this time, so they just rolled the dice. (11/
Turns out, this time the donor& #39;s quirk was... basically a kenku. He could replicate any sound he heard but couldn& #39;t create new sounds. Those two quirks combined into a quirk they later called "Pitch Perfect." (12/
So, like it says on the tin, their second child... uhhhhh [wildly googling] Hibiki, could hit any pitch within a wide range perfectly, and could also copy most human voices. Aika and Mari were kind of shocked to realize they accidentally (13/
got the quirk they were aiming for the first time. Mic, who is already riddled with guilt over damaging Aika& #39;s hearing, is now ALSO dealing with feeling like the "lesser child" who got the "wrong quirk." And he was already a needy kid, (14/
so add all that on top of having to compete for attention with a newborn, and suddenly Mic is having the Worst Time of His Life and his moms DON& #39;T LOVE HIM ANYMORE!!!!! (He makes a very sad radio show where he reads an "anonymous letter" (15/
about an alarmingly similar situation and then gives advice to the "stranger" to cope. It absolutely breaks Aika and Mari& #39;s hearts and they have a very long talk with him so he knows how much he& #39;s loved. Also in present-day, they tend to skip that recording.) (16/
So Mic feels less shitty but of course that thinking doesn& #39;t just go away overnight, so there& #39;s a bit of a rivalry between him and Hibiki. (Sidenote, Hibiki comes out as NB around 12.) So Mic feels pretty insecure off and on, Hibiki is maybe a bit smug about their quirk. (17/
You know how kids sometimes mimic someone to annoy them? Do you know how much more annoying it would be to hear "stop mimicking me" in _exactly your voice_ back at you, repeatedly, at increasing volume? Yeah those two were uh. A handful. (18/
In present-day, Mic and Hibiki are SUPER tight and only annoy each other out of sibling obligation. But it took a while to get there. (19/
Surprising noone, Hibiki gets into musical theater. They have an insane quirk for that field and are very hard working, so they end up with a very successful career. They& #39;re _mostly_ not smug about it at that age, and Mic is _mostly_ not jealous. (20/
These days, Mic will occasionally have Hibiki as a guest on his show. At one point a boyfriend-emergency came up, and Mic couldn& #39;t cancel the show because "I don& #39;t fucking cancel Hands Up who do you think I am" so (21/
he convinced Hibiki to fill in, and... "you know, just pretend you& #39;re me, it& #39;ll be fine, no one will notice." (Most people did not, in fact, notice.) (Also, Mic now owes Hibiki a Huge Favor and they& #39;re not letting him forget that anytime soon.) (22/
Frequently when they were kids (I told you it was poorly organized), Mic and Hibiki would argue, bc siblings. Inevitably Aika would hear them or Mari would see them and they& #39;d get in trouble. They had a bad habit of waiting until both moms& #39; backs were turned and (23/
continuing to argue _very very quietly_ or aggressively sign at each other. If Mari caught them at this she& #39;d quite literally slap their wrists. She still does this if she catches them bickering or swearing, even though they& #39;re 25 and 30ish. (24/
I just keep remembering stuff!! When Mic befriends Shouta in... let& #39;s say middle school, Shouta has to pick up on sign language pretty quick. Not necessarily to communicate with Mic, bc Mic& #39;s GREAT at talking. (25/
But if Shouta ever visits Mic& #39;s house, everyone in the family is inevitably having a conversation about Shouta, clearly within eyesight, and Mic is definitely not translating everything, and Shouta frankly just doesn& #39;t like not knowing things. (26/
Shouta& #39;s way of signing is... very lazy. Mic knows what he means because they& #39;ve been friends for so long, and Shouta doesn& #39;t see the need to make more precise gestures if Mic understands him anyway. It drives Mic a little crazy but he& #39;s also enabling him, so. (27/
I... think that& #39;s everything I can think of atm but I& #39;m sure I& #39;ll probably add more to this thread later LOL
