the thing about the “Ethiopia was never colonized” discourse is that, when you really look into it, it’s a very narrow view of colonialism. i would argue it’s not even a statement that should be made, especially not with hubris.

Ethiopia wasn’t ever *technically* colonized by a European nation, sure.
that said, Ethiopia does have a long history of colonialism and European impact. namely internal colonialism and heavy European influence, particularly over culture, ideals and institutions.

there is also the arguably neocolonial nature of current Sino-Ethiopian relations...
