The deployment of the child-with-special-needs defence has angered me even more than the original breaking of the rules. Do you really think none of the hundreds of thousands of key workers asked to put themselves at risk daily has a child with special needs? How dare you.
Many parents would dearly love to do what's best for their child but instead are adhering to the rules in order to care for others. Parents have sacrificed even being able to *hold a dying child*. Don't you *dare* defend your mate with "doing what he thinks best for his child".
My heart goes out to the many people in this and similar situations. Their pain and grief is only compounded by being gaslighted now that the guidelines actually allowed them to make a different judgement call had they wanted to. They had no such choice. https://twitter.com/legsidelizzy/status/1264228438933737472
