What makes A’tin different from other fandom (a thread/rant)

SB19 GoUpMonday
@ATIN_GlobalOfcl
MEANING
A’tin (pronounced as eighteen) is Sb19’s official fandom name. In Filipino “atin"=OURS. In English, A’tin(18)= a no. that comes after 19. So all the achievements & hardwork are OURS because w/o 18, there wouldn't be SB19. The same goes as w/o SB19, A’tin would not EXIST.
ORGANIZATIONISM
it may be evident in twitter because A’tin has a lot of DEDICATED accounts w/ DISTINCT roles to SUPPORT SB19.++
++Other fans also create threads to thoroughly explain other info about SB19. In my case, I will create a thread about a summary of A’tin as a GUIDE for everyone who is curious about us.
LANGUAGE
Sb19 is an idol group from the PHILIPPINES & most of the 1st fans are FILIPINOS. As a Filipino fan this is the 1st time that we had an idol group who we can easily relate and connect W/O any LANGUAGE BARRIERS. ++
++But mind you that ENGLISH is our 2nd language that’s why we can also communicate well w/ INTERNATIONAL A’TIN. Also there are A'TIN FILIPINOS LITERALLY ALL OVER THE WORLD who can speak other languages. Even locally we have no diff. in learning new languages (if we want to)++
++So be EXTRA CAREFUL when you talk about SB19 because for us, there are no LANGUAGE BARRIER that can’t be broken.
CULTURE
Philippines is in ASIA, the same goes for kpop idols in KOREA. Unlike WESTERN COUNTRIES, Asians are known to be CONSERVATIVE & INDIRECT whereas western people are mostly straightforward & frank. I know that korean fans dont like their idols being sexualized++
++ and so in Philippines too. The only ADVANTAGE that we have is that we can READ & UNDERSTAND other international posts online. It could also be our disadvantage because we mostly see everything without any disclaimer/censorship
INTERACTION WITH THE GROUP
Sb19 mostly uses TWITTER as a platform to DIRECTLY communicate with the fans. In kpop, idols seldom chat w/ their fans on twitter. however, they have another app/site for interaction such as Weverse & Vlive. Yes, for us it can be also a disadvantage++
++because Twitter is open to PUBLIC. Meaning, A’tin & Non-A’tin can see everything we do,write, and post online. Also, it is difficult to handle & report all the posts that are inappropriate for the fans and the group. MIND YOU that the parents, siblings,++
++and friends of your idol can see what you post on the internet. If you wish for them not to be in the platform, do yourself a favor to stay away from the fandom and SB19
REACTORS
it is most likely that we are able to spread SB19 to a wider audience because of social media especially reactors on youtube. Sb19 are gaining a lot of fans, so as the number of reactors. But not ALL REACTORS use SB19 as bait for A’tin to gain views and popularity++
++In fact, most of them became A’tin & now a part of the FAMDOM--By that, I mean that most of us watch their reactions not just because it’s SB19, but we want to experience with them the same feeling as we are also slowly getting to know SB19. Outside YT,++
++we are able to chat with them aside from the topic about SB19. It’s funny that when pandemic ended, some of us are really excited to meet them in person and experience the SB19 concert with them.
SB19 + A’TIN = FAMILY
We don’t put SB19 on a pedestal. the more you get to know Sb19, the more you realize that they are also one of us. WE STAN SB19 because of their TALENT, SINCERITY, HARDWORK, AND JUST BY BEING THEMSELVES.++
++The word IDOL in our definition does NOT MEAN OBJECTIFYING them & treating them as sort of PRODUCT for us to consume. It means that they are OUR INSPIRATION and MOTIVATION to never give up and to work harder for our goals. ++
++When we see ourselves as a FAMILY, who in the right mind can imagine sexualizing other family members?? (Pls rethink if you’re truly A’tin)
WE DO NOT CONSIDER OURSELVES AS BETTER FANDOM THAN THE REST
The goal of this thread is to EXPLAIN WHY we are A’tin in the first place. As Sb19 keeps their feet on the ground, it should also reflect the fandom by not treating others as inferior to us. ++
++WE CRITICIZE BUT NOT SPREAD HATE. WE KEEP OURSELVES OPEN-MINDED and UNDERSTANDING TO OTHER A’TIN AND NON-A’TIN. Me, also being a kpop fan, I don’t want to let SB19 and our famdom experience some of the worst that could happen when becoming an idol and a fan.++
++As early as now, we should build a strong foundation for our principles as an A’TIN. PREVENTION IS THE KEY TO KEEP US FROM BECOMING TOXIC which we wouldn’t want to happen. If other fandoms can tolerate it, we can START NOW to control it.
I’ll end this thread with a statement from Sejun (leader of Sb19), “Always choose to be kind”. ++
++No one is stopping you to be a part of A’tin but when you join any part of a group/culture/society, you should always keep an open mind because WHATEVER YOU SAY AND DO AS AN A’TIN WILL REFLECT ON THE IMAGE OF SB19 AND THE FAMDOM.
====================end of thread/rant===== thank you for staying until the end :) [written by an A'TIN since Go up era ]
**note: this is the first time I actually post a serious topic on twitter bec. I use my account mainly to update, to support, and to keep in touch with other fans. but SB19 is really close to my heart so I will NOT TOLERATE any inappropriate acts from other people.
