As a black man, I’m proud to call her an ally, not because I’m a stan, but because I can definitely see her with pure intentions and with valid transparency on social issues. Demi has used her platform to speak out for BlackLivesMatter back when it wasn’t fully mainstream yet

Back around the time Eric Garner tragically lost his life at the hands of a corrupt cop, she voiced her opinion on how corrupt society was, and I applauded her then; when Alton Sterling & Philando Castile passed, she voiced her opinion again. In my opinion, because of what happen

last year with the 21 Savage situation where she chimed in on the jokes along with Twitter, she was a direct target of unnecessary hate (thanks to Wale implying she was laughing at a black man getting deported when we all knew that was a bold ass lie) but that probably made her

feel insecure to speak out again on certain issues due to that, and it’s honestly heartbreaking how someone that wanted to shed light and use their platform was wrongly bullied to the point where they felt scared that if they said something, it would cause controversy...

As for the trans/non-binary topic, I myself relate to that because I’m still learning. I have friends that have transitioned and also friends that are non-binary and I’m still wanting to educate myself on that because I don’t want to offend them by saying the wrong things
