Romanticizing the people within the canon of scripture has led to so much bad theology and doctrine it’s not even funny.
like we think that because it’s the Bible, these ppl were perfect and that’s what’s preventing us from critically analyzing the text. from seein what’s really there. literally being blinded because we choose to paint them in this mystic light.
The only one mentioned in the Bible that was above reproach was Christ Hisself. Dassit. Dasall. Everyone else from Adam up to Christ, and everyone after Christ is flawed.
That’s why I’m always trying to get yal to think. If nothin is new under the sun...where do yal think this stuff originated at? This didn’t just start in our lifetime. Our parents either.
All of these ppl were flawed and that’s what makes this truly magnificent. Their flaws. The atrocities they committed even are proof to why 1. We needed a savior and 2. that God can work IN SPITE of our shortcomings and terrible decisions. We miss that when we romanticize them.
There are so many things we gotta break out of that we ingrained in us and this is one of the bigger ones. Lookin at those who are in the text, as ppl instead of putting them on a pedestal they don’t deserve. It’s unfair to them and it really does us no good.
