Usagi and her friends fight evil and do their best to protect the world against all evil. You will laugh, roll your eyes and cry as you watch the characters grow and mature.
My Neighbour Totoro (1988)
Two girls in the countryside meet a giant, cuddly cat named Totoro. The movie portrays innocence and hope but there is a popular dark theory surrounding the legend of Totoro.
Weathering with You (2019)

A boy who runs away befriends a girl who is able to manipulate the weather. This story shows the sacrifices we are willing to make for the ones we love.
Erased (2016)
"The future is always blank. Only your willpower can leave footsteps there."

The story follows Satoru who somehow can travel back in time moments before a tragedy in order to prevent it from happening again.
A Silent Voice (2016)

Shoyo bullies Shouko for being deaf. Years later, Shoyo begins searching for Shouko to make amends for the person he was in the past. It's a beautiful anime.
Flavours of Youth (2018)

This follows three different stories that take place in three different cities. It deals with the confrontation of adulthood and the fragility of childhood. P.S. It's on Netflix

A lonely teenager skips morning lessons to sit in a beautiful garden where he meets an older woman with whom he shares the feeling of loneliness and doesn't feel so lonely anymore.
In This Corner of the World (2016)

This follows the story of a married girl as she lives through the daily struggles of living in Hiroshima during WWII
Grave of the Fireflies (1988)
"Why do fireflies have to die so soon?"

Following two siblings who were separated from their parents due to an American firebombing, this story deals with the costs of war and the permanent pain it creates. Warning: prepare tissues. Lots of them.
Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (2011)

A girl is reunited with her friend five years after her death. They help her fulfil a wish so she can pass on to the afterlife.
Haikyuu!! (2015)
"I don't know what lies beyond the boundaries but I will definitely get it."

It's more than just about volleyball. It's about growth, team effort and never giving up in yourself. I love and cherish this anime.
5cm per second (2007)
"Suddenly, I was keenly aware that we wouldn't be able to remain together forever."

5cm/s is the speed at which cherry blossoms fall. This anime deals with the passage of time and the effect it has on people and relationships. Stunning visuals.
Orange (2016)
"People who save everyone usually don't save themselves."

This series is about a group of friends who receive a letter from their future selves asking them to save their friend from committing suicide so that he will be there with them in the future.
Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms (2018)

An immortal girl and a normal boy form a very strong bond that lasts years and years. I cried at the end. That's all there needs to be said.
Spirited Away (2001)

A Studio Ghibli icon. A girl and her parents find an abandoned park that she later finds out to be the chilling spot for spirits who need a break from the Earthly realm and she has to work to free her and her parents
One Punch Man (2015)

Saitama is a superhero who is indestructible but he is also depressed because he is too strong. So he looks for a worthy opponent. Hilarious but we can learn a thing or two from Saitama. But also a meme.
Dragon Ball Z (1989)
"It is not a sin to fight for the right cause."

This is what I grew up on. My first anime ever. It's a classic. It teaches valuable character traits such as loyalty, teamwork and trust all while fighting evil, of course.
Your lie in April (2014)

After the death of his mother, a talented pianist loses the will to play. Until he meets a free-spirited girl who has secrets of her own.
Tokyo Ghoul (2014)
"The pain you feel today will be the strength you'll have tomorrow."

A dark fantasy that takes place in a world where there are human-eating creatures called Ghouls. It's bloody and badass. Also Ken Kaneki is the love of my life:)
Naruto (2002)
"Those who do not understand true pain can never understand true peace."

Lots of good memories with Naruto. Whether its loved or not, you can't deny its legendary. Loads of good messages to learn from this series. The most relatable being Naruto's love for ramen.
Colourful (2010)
"Humans aren't compromised of a single colour but many different ones."

A soul is given a second chance and wakes up in the body of a suicide victim, Makoto. The soul now must find out why Makoto took his own life. This deals with the pain of suicide.
