Mumbai Covid Update:

Today we will decode the various nomenclature being used by BMC (MCGM) in terms of hospitals, beds etc.

First there are 4 categories of medical care centres with totally around 73,000 beds in operation
CCC1
CCC2
DCHC
DCH

What do this acronyms mean?

CCC1 - Covid Care Centre 1
This is for people who have come in contact with CoVid +ves
Just a quarantine and testing facility
These have around 23,000 beds

CCC2 - Covid Care Centre 2
For those who Covid +ve but with no symptoms or very mild symtoms
This has 34,500 beds

DCHC - Dedicated Covid Health Centre
For those with moderate symptoms - high fevers, severe difficulty in breathing etc
This has 10,000 beds

DCH - Dedicated Covid Hospitals
For those with prolonged and serious symptoms, serious, senior citizens and critical
5500 beds

(3/n)
As per BMC officials

Around 10%-20% of the patients may require ICU and 5% ventilators

Mumbai has around
1200 ICU beds
590 ventilators
2255 beds with oxygen facility

Currently this is low
Facilities will be ramped up signifcantly in the next few days by the State Govt

What shud be ur game plan
1. In ur society hv some oxygen cylinders for helping breathing
2. If u suspect Covid, Inform BMC & your family doctor ASAP
3. Don't run around in an ambulance from one hospital to another.... BMC will help u get a bed if reqd
