One, its allies are on both sides of the fight. NATO member Turkey and US partner Qatar backs the Tripoli Government, which is under Ikhwan militias influence.

On the other hand, NATO member Greece and US allies Egypt and the UAE back the LNA and the Parliament, both anti Jihadist.

However the second batch of reasons is even more serious. More than ten thousand Jihadists have been transferred by Turkey to Libya to fight the LNA.

These forces, connected to al Qaeda and to ISIS may expand across the Sahel and try to infiltrate Europe. This is a red line for the US and Europe.

And as dangerous is the possibility that hundreds of thousands of refugees could be transferred from Turkey to the coast between Tripoli and Tunisia border and launched from there into Europe across the Mediterranean.

Neither Trump or Macron can afford this politically.
