Thread: I've seen some really silly tweets today, but I don't want to go after them firstly because I've seen similar takes from multiple people, and i'm about criticising the point, not the person making it, so to go after any one specific tweet would be unfair.
8th edition was specifically pandered to the casual player. It was stripped down and specifically designed to make it as accessible as possible. Any assertion that the last 3 years have been about 'pandering to tournament players' is what I mean when I refer to 'silly tweets'.
Simply communicating with people who like to enjoy the hobby in a certain way is no more pandering than responding to questions on the community facebook page. It's about making as many different tastes feel welcome as possible.
If you don't want to enjoy the hobby in the same way as another group, you absolutely do not have to. I refuse to attend my local club now unless specifically requested, because it wouldn't be enjoyable or useful for me to turn up with my Worlds GK army and roll a 14 yr old.
Furthermore, I have seen no salt whatsoever, and that is from the perspective of someone who makes it his business to swim in as many competitive circles as possible. All I have seen is quiet optimism from these circles.
Please stop using any and every piece of news in our circle to bash competitive players. All it does is make you look unwelcoming to people with different tastes, and ignorant to the realities of competitive play. We are not stopping you from playing beer and pretzel games.
If anyone holds any of the opinions I reject in the above tweets, please please please, my DMs are open. I've seen a not insignificant number of mutuals repeating these talking points and I'd really like to understand why me and others like me are apparently your boogeymen?
