to save their crops from these pests.

It has been told that the only way to control it is through raising loud sound through drums, utensils and shouting.
Further agricultural dept is pouring pesticides to control it but it seems its not that effective leading to threatening 2/n
the country's food security.

When these locusts meet suitable environmental conditions, they become gregarious and start breeding abundantly which is dangerous to our food security and the economy.

country that is already dealing with a drastic economic and health crisis

due to COVID-19 is on the verge of facing the worst agricultural crisis as well.

A swarm of desert locust containing around 40million locusts can consume (or destroy) food that would suffice the hunger need of 35000 people, assuming that one person consumes around 2.3 kg of

food every day.

The strategy to kill this pests is to spray a specific chemical over them around midnight, once they settle over trees. It kills some and the remaining fly. Then repeat the process wherever they settle next.

We can’t control them in the daytime. We try to control them when they settle at night. Given the size of the group, we are able to cover only 50 to 60% of them with all our resources. The remaining fly and some more join the swarm to make its size bigger.

It won't take much time for these predators top spread further into other states.

Our govt should be more vigilant and take valiant measures to control the locust and avoid the farmers to face another crisis.
