A common PNR D tactic when teams are pressuring in the PNR and there are 2 Off players on the weak side is for the D to 'Zone up' and 'X switch'. This allows the screener's D to pressure the ball harder because he has protection behind him. How can you beat it? See this thread.
When there are two defenders on the weakside performing an X, there will be an inside defender (covering the roller/rim) and an outside defender (covering the skip pass to the wing or corner). The most important concept is to LENGTHEN the rotations for these defenders.
The easiest way to lengthen the rotation is for the wing player to fill the slot as the PNR is taking place. See this example by @AnadoluEfesSK's @ShaneLarkin_3. You can see Larkin fills up as the outside defender fills in (and is starting to cheat to the corner).
Here's another example of the wing filling the slot to beat the X from @EuroCup team, @ASMonaco_Basket. You can see the outside defender is sinking ready to cover the skip pass to the corner and is therefore completely out of position to cover the 'Curl fill' by the scorer.
If the player filling up to the slot has his 'space advantage' taken away by the outside D, the corner player will be open for the 3pt. And because the O is now spaced so far away, the outside defender can't cover both players - the corner has to be guarded by another player.
Another option to beat the 'Zone up' and 'X switch' is to screen in the defenders on the weakside. In this clip @EuroLeague team, @Khimkibasket screen in the INSIDE defender to create an open shot for @DairisBertans.
In this clip, @EuroLeague team, @fcb_basketball screen in the OUTSIDE defender with the PNR screener. Again you see the wing player filling to the slot to lengthen the rotations of the X defenders. In this case the rotation is so long that #22 chooses to stay in the paint.
You can also have the offensive players cross over prior to the 'fill up' to create a little more confusion with the two x defenders. See this clip from @AnadoluEfesSK. The INSIDE defenders man fills up to the slot while the wing fades to the corner. END THREAD.
