This was my granddad's first job.

He was 13 years old. It was depression-era Oklahoma.

When my generation was 13, we were playing XBox, eating Twinkies, and being told to calm down in class.

And we wonder where all the good men have gone. https://twitter.com/Jason/status/1264610045133647872
He got the job to help his parents keep bread on the table. It was 1936 in the middle of the Dust Bowl and they were just trying to survive.

5 years later, he got drafted. Drove a tank in the European theater.

Came home. Put himself through college.
Graduated with a Petroleum Engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma in 3 years, while also working full time.

At the height of his career, he was the VP of a specialty oil parts company during the boom of the 60's and 70's.

One of the All-American Self-Made Men.
Literally built the American Dream for himself and his family out of nothing but blood, sweat, and tears.

And here we are, watching cat videos on the internet.

Where the fuck did we go wrong?
