the reason these stupid argument happen is because somebody tried to apply their own rules to everyone else and moralize on that basis. which never does anything but backfire, mainly because it inevitably conflicts with someone else's rules.

and then it becomes an argument about whose rules are more objectively important, usually leveraging culture, or past atrocities, or history, or any other number of perfectly sane reasons. but they're all irrelevant to an argument because they can't be resolved.

and isn't that supposed to be the purpose of an argument? resolution?

if there are elements to the argument that cannot be resolved, how will it ever be resolved?

if it can't be resolved, what are you doing it for? to win? that literally never happens.

so the only way you can resolve it is for yourself, by not participating. unless you like chasing your own tail.
