This thread shows why #autism is trending.

This is due to allegations of Dominic Cummings’ child being autistic. However there aren’t any material sources for this rumour so it’s Twitter journalism time.

I found the first instance of Cummings and autism being used together.

A fairly standard right wing repost account that starts with “Apparently”. Feel free to check time stamps against other tweets of 24/5/20. This was the first. And the trail went cold. So I reached out to this account asking where he found this information...

This is what we call in the twitter journalism trade as ‘bollocks.’ LBC attracts high ratings especially in the mornings. The Andrew Castle show would have been on then. So I point out the logical flaw that he seemed to be the only person who picked up on this ABSOLUTE BOMBSHELL

He seemed to begin to doubt himself that he had heard about Cummings’ autistic child. And maintains it was just a passing comment on the radio. News like this on morning radio of course would shape the entire face of the National conversation, so my suspicion deepened.

Suddenly the Tory retweet connoisseur has become less sure the radio mentioned a game changing alteration in circumstances.

My subject then realises he is the source of this rumour and baseless disinformation. He sees the error of his ways and deletes the original tweet that started this #Autism

In true brexiteer fashion however he refused to apologise to his adoring fans for being the nexus of this fake news. When I pressured him to do the grown up thing and admit he got it wrong, he hit me with a swift blocking.

Was he lying? Did he make it up on the hoof for those sweet, sweet retweets and attention? Or is he a downright idiot who misheard his morning LBC and took to twitter to preach the holy word? Why don’t you ask him? He’s not blocked any of you.

TL;DR

The allegations that Dominic Cummings has an autistic 4 year old are based on a misheard LBC clip. Nothing more. No autistic child, just a bastard who thinks the rules apply to you, and not him...
