I am generally averse to wading into Twitter Drama, but nobody cares that people make a living wage, or even a comfortable living, off their podcast. The issue is that socialist values require you to be mindful of how you use your profits.

Exploitation of labor surrounds us. This means that any person earning a wage in excess of a baseline comfortable lifestyle, in excess of the social value of their work, is benefitting from external exploitation.

Everything from the well-fed Patreon employee who enables their funding, to the underpaid food service worker who serves them, to the violently imperialised peoples who keep their gas cheap--exploitation and suffering is built into the fabric of the capitalist economy.

Being able to make a million dollars in capitalism is impossible without interacting with one or more horrifically exploitative systems. No single person benefits solely from themselves in capitalism.

In fact, the social nature of work and private nature of ownership is basic Marxist theory. It is a primary contradiction, resolved through socialism.

So to consider oneself a socialist, and to hoard wealth while those around you are exploited in serving you, is *wrong*.

Three quarters of a million dollars annually would be a game changing amount of money for any socialist organization, because many of them are comprised of poor workers who can spare their labor and time but not much money.

Many socialists get amazing work done on shoestring budgets. They would benefit tremendously from literally any additional funds. 750k would help to build so much organizing power.

Many people have cited the Matt Bors "You live in a society yet you participate in it? Curious!" comic. The key difference is that it is *because* CTH participates in a society, that they should seek to remedy benefitting even indirectly from the worst injustices of it.

Poor, working class people show up every single day to organize incredible things in their neighborhoods with *nothing* to work with. If you can't even put your huge extra earnings into organizing--the lowest possible bar--you're not a socialist, you're a grifter.
