Let me tell you how fun it is to permanently cover all your classroom windows with black paper because we canât let any shooter know this room is a classroom.

I had reorganized my lab prep room (walk in closet size) to ensure an entire class of ~30 teens (and me) could fit as that would put 2 steel doors between us and a shooter.
Itâs also fun to have to use codes associated with life threatening intruders so we donât scare kids.

To top it off...it was a truly fun experience to hear âJohn Wayneâ wannabe male teachers brag about how brave and awesome they would be if they were allowed to bring a gun to school...no, they wouldnât. Iâd be even more terrified if that guy had a gun...as he had anger issues.
Yeah...folks can wear a mask if I could go to my job every day in the Deep South knowing most of these kids had access to arsenals.
